FalseStart

FalseStart

Now the start of an athlete can be detected electronically with accuracy to 0.001 of a second! No longer will a false start need to be detected by the naked eye, a job made impossible when the blocks are not lined up against each other, e.g. 400m race.

Pressure on the blocks is constantly and dynamically measured to produce a starting/reaction time. If this reaction time is under 0.1 seconds, then an alarm will sound in the headset of the starter, indicating a recall is needed.

Results of each reaction time, and the starters delay time, are sent to the Athletics MeetManager computer, and printed out on the FalseStart detection box, which is housed in a portable caddy near the start.

Athletes in Blocks

The speed of sound

Each block also includes a loudspeaker so the athletes can hear the gun simultaneously. Using just the sound of the gun and no speakers, the athlete in lane 8 will hear the gun up to 0.25 seconds later than the athlete in lane 1, a massive disadvantage.

Each FalseStart module can be mounted easily on to any brand of block with the use of Velcro strapping. The system also has a build in test procedure which is operational in seconds.

FalseStart can also be used in training. Using a pistol start or beep by the speakers, this system can be used freely in and out of competition. And with optional FalseStart software, you can analyse, display and log athletes starting curves in graphical format.

Fully battery operated, available in 8 and 10 lane versions.
